What self-care habits do you intertwine into your daily routine? Some of my favourite self/care habits that I try to indulge in daily are: Drinking tea, listening to music, going for a long walk, and doing something creative each day.
What's your favourite book? So many to choose from! I just finished reading The Goldfinch and absolutely loved it.
Who can you go to when you need to get something off your chest? My mum!
What’s your safe place? My apartment! It’s my little utopia.
Have you ever dealt with anxiety? If so, how do you calm your mind? Yes! In the past and to this day I deal with social anxiety. Whenever I am feeling anxious I try to calm myself down by breathing deeply and closing my eyes. This seems to help me.
Have you ever gotten yourself out of a dark place? Or have you ever needed to help someone else out? If so, how? I have helped friends get out of a dark place. In my experience talking about and living your emotions is the best way to work through whatever it is that may be bringing you down.
Do you think social media affects your mental health or has any other negative impacts on you? If so, how do you best deal with it? I think social media can definitely affect your mental health negatively if you let it. Personally, anytime I start to feel negative while on social media I put my phone away and do something that makes me feel good instead. This helps me to stay positive on social media and use it as a creative tool.
What’s your biggest fear? Losing my mum!
What’s the biggest change you can identify within yourself in the past year? I think that in the past year I have become much more adventurous and willing to try new things!
What’s one of the hardest things you’ve had to go through in life? How did you get through it? One of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with is living so far away from my family! I chose to move to Australia after finishing high school (which I don’t regret at all! I love my life here). But being so far away from my parents and siblings can be very difficult at times. I try to Facetime and call them as much as possible to stay involved in their everyday lives and keep them in mine as well!
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self? Don’t spend so much time worrying! Enjoy what you have and enjoy everyday of your life.
If you could change one thing within society, what would that be? I wish everybody was treated equally.
